The Ticha Reservoir is located in North-Eastern Bulgaria, about ten kilometers from the town of Veliki Preslav, Shumen region. It was built along the Golyama Kamchia River, being also fed by the Eleshnitsa River. It occupies the seventh place in the ranking of the largest dams on the territory of Bulgaria, after Mandra, Iskar, Studen Kladenets, Zhrebchevo, Ogosta and Batak. It was built on the lands of the villages of Vinica and Staroselka, whose inhabitants were evicted from there in 1977.
