African Dogon man wears a traditional mask and tribal decoration. The Dogon are an ethnic group of people living in the central plateau region of Mali in the Mopti region and are best known for their mythology, mask dances, traditional funeral rituals or “damas”, wooden sculpture and architecture. Masks used during the yincomoli ceremony include the Yana Gulay mask, the Satimbe mask, the Sirigie mask, and the Kanaga mask.
