| Tver river station is the first port from the source of the Volga river, located at the confluence of the Volga and Tvertsa. The building of the river station was built in 1938 on the place of the ancient blown up Uspensky Otroch monastery. Prosperous in the Soviet era, the river station sent 20 regular passenger routes a day, met long-distance cruise ships. Currently, the pier is used only by excursion and pleasure boats, there are no regular routes. The river station building has not been used for its intended purpose since 2002, for a long time it has not been repaired and actually destroyed. In August 2017, there was a partial collapse of the building. Local Authority are going to restore this soviet architectural monument, the cultural heritage site but nobody can forecast when will the total reconstruction begin and how long it will last because of lack of funding. |
