Etna is an active volcano on the east coast of Sicily, in the territory of the metropolitan city of Catania, Italy. It is about 3357 meters high, although this varies due to constant eruptions. It is the highest active volcano on the Eurasian plate, the first in reference to geographical Europe and the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps. Etna covers an area of 1190 km², with a basal circumference of 140 km.
