The cross-sea bridge connecting the two islands of Baisha Township and Xiyu Township in Penghu, Taiwan spans the roaring Houmen Channel with a total length of 2,494 meters. It is built with semi-circular arches on both ends and was the longest cross-sea bridge in the Far East when it was completed and opened to traffic in 1970 (59th year of the Republic of China). Initially, it was only a single lane and not easy for vehicles to pass each other. After reconstruction and expansion to a double lane, it was completed in March 1996 (85th year of the Republic of China), making inter-island transportation more convenient. Walking on the bridge, you can enjoy the magnificent sea view, listen to the grand waves, and feel the gentle sea breeze, making it a great leisure activity to relax your body and mind.
