Malus spectabilis AIT. Borkh: arbor, up to 8m high; branchlets are thick, cylindrical, pubescent when young, falling off gradually, reddish brown or purplish brown when old, glabrous. The leaves are elliptic to long elliptic, 5-8 cm long and 2-3 cm wide, with the edge close to the serrulate, sometimes part of them close to the whole edge. When they are young, the upper and lower surfaces are sparse pubescence, then fall off, and the old leaves are glabrous. Inflorescence subumbelliform, 4-6 flowers, 4-5cm in diameter; calyx tube without hair or white villi outside; sepals triangular ovate, apex acute, entire; petals ovate, 2-2.5cm long, 1.5-2CM wide, short clawed at base, white, pink in bud
