| Cleethorpes Pier was officially opened on August 4, 1873, after plans were approved in 1867. The pier was designed by architects J.E. and A. Dowson and constructed by Head Wrightson at a cost of £8,000 (equivalent to approximately £894,751 today). Originally, it stretched 1,200 feet (370 meters) into the North Sea, providing a vital link for visitors to enjoy the seaside. |
