A view through a postern gate, or a secondary gate, in the ancient megalithic sea walls of Cefalu in Sicily, Italy. The walls were constructed as polygonal masonry, also called megalithic or cyclopean, & date back to 5th-4th century BC, representing Cefalu's oldest architectural layer. A stepped cobblestoned passage leads through the gate to the sunlit rocky shoreline & sea beyond.
