| Castle Hohenschwangau lives in the shadow of the Neuschwanstein Castle, although, for many centuries before it was the only one dominating the area. The site of a medieval castle since the Middle Ages, the current Neo-Gothic shape dates back to 1832, when Maximilian II ordered the previous ruins to be rebuild. Here is where the Bavarian King Ludwig II, creator of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle grew up, and from where he supervised the construction of his major project. |
