| Casa Batllo (in Barcelona, Spain) is also known as the Casa dels Ossos (House of Bones) was designed by the architect Antoni Gaudi and was built in the year 1877. The name ââ¬ÅHouse of Bonesââ¬Â comes from the fact that from the outside the façade of Casa Batlló looks like it has been made from skulls and bones. The Skulls are in fact balconies and the bones are supporting pillars. Gaudi wanted to avoid straight lines completely when designing this building. Much of the façade is decorated with a mosaic made of broken ceramic tiles (trencadÃÂs). |
