| This is a picture of the iconic El Caracol known as the Astronomical Observatory located in the Chichen Itza Archeological Zone in Chichen Itza, Mexico. This structure was built between 600 A.D. and 850 A.D., it was aligned with the motion of Venus in the sky, the Southwest and Northeast corners are aligned the Summer Solstice Sunrise and the Winter Solstice Sunset. This picture was taken on January 12, 2017. |
