| The El Capitan Theater in San Franciscos Mission District was a late comer to the neighborhood, not opening until 1928. Not only did it offer stage and screen shows, there was even a Wurlitzer pipe organ, for the silent movies. The theater was closed in 1957 and has been pretty much gutted. About all that remains besides the front outside of the building is the attached, low budget hotel. The entrance lobby area has long been nothing more than a parking lot. As seen 1 February 2023. |
