Pictured is a Bronze relief erected by the State of Texas in 1936 with information about Jefferson City. It is located at the Marion County Courthouse. It notes the city was named in honor of Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. It also notes the history of being an important and prosperous business center before water transportation was superseded by railroads. In addition to information it features a side view of the head of Thomas Jefferson and The State Arms of Texas, adopted in 1845 and standardized in 1991.
