Black balloons serve as a symbol for the day to represent and celebrate the lives of those lost. Since 2015, Black Balloon Day has become a national and international event to raise awareness for addiction sufferers. March 6 is Black Balloon Day, an annual event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating those who have lost their lives to substance overdoses. In doing so, we not only honor lives lost but also help raise awareness about the stark realities of substance misuse around the world, putting human names and faces behind the often impersonal statistics surrounding overdose deaths
