A bicycle lane is a special piece of infrastructure designed for cyclists so that they can ride safely and comfortably. This path is usually separated from the main road used by motorized vehicles, or is specially marked on the road to make it clear and safe for bicycle users. Bike lanes can be on the side of the road, in the city center, along parks, or in recreation areas. This facility was created to promote the use of bicycles as an environmentally friendly transportation alternative, reduce congestion and improve public health. Bike lanes are also often equipped with traffic signs, road markings, and sometimes traffic lights specifically for cyclists.
