The Basilica Cistern (Turkish: Yerebatan Sarayñ ââ¬â Sunken Palace, or Yerebatan Sarnñcñ ââ¬â Sunken Cistern), is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul (that is formerly Constantinople), Turkey.
