Bankas or bangkas are traditional outrigger wooden boats used by Filipino fishermen to catch a variety of fish, including tuna. As opposed to industrial fisheries, artisanal fisheries are labour-intensive. A ton of fish caught by artisanal fisheries provides income to a much larger number of fishermen than a ton of fish caught by industrial fisheries. |
