The Bodø Cathedral was constructed in the 1950s of concrete. At the time the construction was groundbreaking as it has no internal pillars to carry the weight of the construction. The bell tower is separate from the main body of the cathedral and is also a war memorial commemorating the victims of worldwar II. Bodø is placed in Norway north of the Polar circle.
