Large swarms of bats over downtown Austin, after leaving their roosts under Austin's Congress Avenue Bridge. They do so every evening at sunset to feed on insects. An estimated 750.000 to 1.5 million bats make up this urban colony. In spring, summer and early fall, the nightly fly-out is a tourist attraction in the Texas State Capital, with people lining the bridge's sidewalk, a viewing park below it and on boats on Lady Bird Lake.
