| Asian pigeonwings (Clitoria ternatea), commonly known as blue bell vine, blue pea, butterfly pea, cordofan pea, bluebell vine and Darwin pea, is a plant belonging to the family Fabaceae. Its flowers have the shape of human female genitals, hence the Latin name "Clitoria", from "clitoris". Flowers are solitary and are of vivid deep blue color with light yellow markings. Some varieties yield white and pink flowers. Fruits are long, flat pods with six to ten seeds in each and are edible when tender. |
