| Anakena, a white coral sand beach situated on the northern tip of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), is one of the only two small sandy beaches on the island (the other one being Ovahe). Legend has it that Anakena was the landing place of Hotu Matu'a, a Polynesian chief who led a two-canoed expedition and formed the first settlement on Rapa Nui. |
