Amos Oz, Israeli novelist, writer, journalist, professor, intellectual and activist addresses a gathering at the Lautenberg Family Center in Whippany, New Jersey, on December 4, 1997. A sabra, Oz was born in Jerusalem on May 4, 1939 and died of cancer in Israel on December 28, 2019 at 79. He was renowned as one of his country`s best writers, and authored 40 books. An Israel Prize winner, whose work was translated into 45 languages was a peace activist strongly supporting the two state solution with the Palestinians. He was honored with dozens of international prizes as the voice of conscience, vision, and moral courage.
