Chapel of Saint-Hubert where Leonardo da Vinci is buried, Chateau d'Amboise, Amboise, Indre-et-Loire, France. The Château d'Amboise is located in the French town of the same name in the department of Indre-et-Loire, in a position overlooking the Loire River. It is included in the list of Châteaux of the Loire and combines the final part of the late Gothic flamboyant tradition with the nascent Renaissance style. Before being annexed to the royal crown of France in 1434, the castle belonged, for over four centuries, to the powerful d'Amboise family. Leonardo da Vinci lived in the Castle by will of the King (in the Clos Lucé, located near the castle) and died in 1519 in Amboise. He was initially buried in the collegiate church of Saint-Florentin, in accordance with his last wishes.
